Cleveland Browns 1995 Fleer Football Cards
(Complete Set)
There are two things that stand out to me with the 1995 Fleer set. The first is that for the first time a card company put the player's basic information on the front of the card. On the one hand this makes the card look "busy" or cluttered. On the other hand I rarely turn the card over to look at a player's background statistics yet here I find the information right on the front and read it. The other thing that stands out to me is the heavy use of the Browns team colors of brown and orange which I like. However it seems that Fleer tried to get too artsy with this set. The combining of the team's city and name on the side of the card and the player's last name in the background really do clutter up the card. The back, like the front, uses nice borderless photos of the players but lacks any biographical information on how the player's previous season went aside from the pure statistical numbers. The Browns team set included two Rookie Sensations cards of Derrick Alexander and Antonio Langham and a nicely designed Eric Turner Gridiron Leader card. Turner co-led (along with Aeneas Williams of the Arizona Cardinals) the NFL with nine interceptions. Eric Metcalf's card states on the front that he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. |
