Cleveland Browns 1968 Season

I start following the Cleveland Browns in 1968 and Leroy Kelly immediately becomes my All-Time favorite player
Leroy Kelly leads the NFL in rushing with 1,239 yards
Leroy Kelly leads the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns
Leroy Kelly leads the NFL with 20 touchdowns
Leroy Kelly leads the NFL in Scoring with 120 points
Paul Warfield leads the NFL with 12 receiving touchdowns
The Browns defense sets a team record with 32 interceptions including 8 by Ben Davis and 6 each by Mike Howell and Ernie Kellerman. Defensive End Bill Glass had 2 interceptions
In the fourth game of the season Bill Nelsen replaces Frank Ryan as the Browns starting quarterback. Two games later Nelsen leads the Browns to a 30-20 victory over the Baltimore Colts and handing the 13-1 Colts their only loss of the season. In the 1968 NFL Championship game the Colts would return the favor with a 34-0 trouncing of the Browns avenging their 27-0 1964 Championship game defeat to Cleveland. The Colts would then be upset in Super Bowl III by Joe Namath and the New York Jets
On December 1, 1968 Leroy Kelly scores four touchdowns against the New York Giants
Kicker Don Cockroft's Rookie season
Browns flanker Tommy McDonald retires after the 1968 season after 11 years in the NFL. He becomes the last non-kicker to not wear a facemask on the field
The Topps Card Company makes Leroy Kelly the number "1" card in their 1969 NFL football card set
I watch the Colts handily beat the Browns in the NFL Championship game 34-0. A week or so later, while sitting in the local barber shop, the barber knowing I was a Browns fan gives me the Sports Illustrated that has the Browns and Colts game on the cover even though they lost
