Cleveland Browns 1992 Season

  • In the second game of the season on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins Bernie Kosar unknowingly breaks his ankle in the first half yet in the second half throws 2 touchdown passes bringing the Browns back from a 20-3 deficit to take the lead 23-20. The Browns end up losing 27-23. In the next game backup quarterback Todd Philcox fractures his thumb and misses eight weeks
  • In a game against the Los Angeles Raiders Eric Metcalf scores four touchdowns becoming the first Browns player to accomplish that feat since Leroy Kelly did it against the New York Giants on December 1, 1968
  • Former Ohio State and Chicago Bears quarterback Mike Tomczak replaces Philcox. He leads the Browns to victories over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers with Brett Farve starting his third game as a professional quarterback
  • Kosar returns in Week 13 and the Browns finish the season with a 7-9 record
  • The co-original "Dawg" Frank Minnifield retires after the 1992 season
